Tuscany is one of the main Italian regions with a wide historical, artistic and cultural heritage. The architectural heritage of Tuscany is unusual not only for its quality, but also for how widespread it is: historic residences, palaces, churches, gardens, parks, archaeological sites, castles and citadels.
But Tuscany is also a region with a thousand different colours. From the white of the marble of the Alpi Apuane to the azure waters of the sea, from the green of its luxuriant nature to the brown and fertile earth, from the ruby reds of its wines to the yellow of the sun. There is always something new to discover in the Tuscan countryside. The beauty of the mountains and the countryside, combined with its astounding natural environment, work together to create a place to explore day after day.
A month’s stay would not be enough just to see the artistic cities and the historic sites.
But in addition to the famous cities of art (Firenze, Pisa, Lucca) and the more well-known places where you can breathe the history of the place (Siena, San Gimignano, Populonia to name only a few) the area is covered by a myriad of outstandingly beautiful small villages, tucked away from mass tourism and often ignored by the tour guides, some of which contain works of art of inestimabile value, such as Volterra, Massa Marittima, Pitigliano and Sovana.
We would very much like you to get to know these places and invite you to visit what can only be a small selection of examples of the country and craft traditions of the area.
In fact, just a few kilometres away there is Lari, with its characteristic old village and castle, which has received an Orange Flag within the Italian/Tuscan Touring Club Project, Crespina, with its stupendous villas, Casciana Terme, the well-known health spa, and Peccioli, a city which is also marked with the Orange Flag, Terricciola, Lajatico and much else besides.
We can suggest various itineraries, easily done by car, as half-day or day-trips, which help you to get to know a different, yet more real, Tuscany.

About Tuscany
The name Tuscany comes from Tuscia, the name given the south Etruria after the end of Etruscan domain, which refers specifically to the name of the people who lived there, the Tusci (Etruscans).
UNESCO "World Heritage" in Tuscany
Tuscany is a region of Italy with the largest number of sites declared "World Heritage" by UNESCO. Among these are: the famous Piazza dei Miracoli of Pisa, the historic center of Florence, the town of Pienza, San Gimignano, Siena and the Val d'Orcia.

There are 31 locations bathing on the coast of Tuscany to have received the European Blue Flag in 2007. The Blue Flag beaches is awarded by the Foundation Environmental Education (FEE) for the quality of water and the coast, facilities and security measures, environmental education.
